What do you do?
Hands that Heal donates hand-knitted or crocheted chemo caps and lap blankets to individuals undergoing chemotherapy. So often a wig is heavy and itchy and it is a relief to slip into something light, comfortable, cosy and pretty.
But what if you don't like knitting in the round? Can you knit a rectangle and sew the seam in?
No. Seams (and some yarns) can bother most soft scalps so it is essential that you use one of the many endorsed patterns and yarns below (and please attach your skein tag with a safety pin to your creation before sending!) If knitting in the round daunts you however, don't despair! Knit a lap blanket instead!
Do I have to knit a whole blanket or can I just donate squares?
Squares are perfectly fine! They must be 40cmx40cm but they can be any pattern, colour or yarn you would like.
I would love the support of other knitters/knotters along the way - is there a group that I can join?
